today's thought: Angel's descent into the mortal realm..

<< reminisce envision >>

This is not a regular entry. As much as I like it to be, as I have alot of other mundane stuff to write about, I shall do so in a separate entry. This entry is one that is entirely devoted to Gao Yuan Yuan. Who's she? If you have seen a few of my previous recent entries, you should have seen two pictures of an absolutely gorgeous woman, right at the beginning and the end. That's her. That's the angel. That's Gao Yuan Yuan.

For those of you who know me pretty well, I'm not someone who takes to oogling very well. When in army, the guys would be staying up watching some obscure Taiwanese variety shows featuring beauties. It is alil boring, don't ya think? I mean, there are alot of other things more interesting to do then just to sit and admire the fairer sex. I'm not saying that its wrong, its stupid, its lame, its dumb, its abnormal or I'm gay. Just that, well, yeah, even reading a book seems to be more fulfiling.

And idolizing some celebrity. I never really idolized someone. Idolize as in pasting pictures or posters all over your room or wardrobes or locker. The walls on my room's clean. Or be it memorizing every statistic in that celebrity's bio-data, or purchasing everything that has that person's name printed on it. Or spending huge amounts of money just to see that person in real life, even though you only get to look at a tiny figure on a stage with a mass of bodies in between.

So, when I get crazy about someone, it's pretty much rare. Almost unheard of. Someone who looks good. Sure, I've had my share of gushing over celebrities in the past. Notable ones are probably Phyllis Quek, the most long standing one. Occasional ones? Avril Lavigne. Delta Goodrem. Christina Aguilera, before she defiled herself. Shakira. Jennifer Love Hewitt. Yuna, Rikku, both from FFX. Yes, they may be CG, but hey, why limit your imagination? Sandra Bullock. Vicki Zhao. Pamela Anderson. Ok, not her. Yeah, I've at one point or another found them to be attractive enough to gush about them, and sometimes even went so far as to put images of them as the wallpaper on my desktop.

But that's about it. Downloaded photos? Yep, sure, a couple. Not a couple dozen. Idolizing someone? I know I liked Savage Garden alot. They sang great songs. A few others. Eminem. New Radicals. Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Delta Goodrem. Avril Lavigne. Just to name a few. I like their artistic talents and abilities. But I never did more than to purchase their albums, and recommend them to people around more.

And the last thing. I believe, and still do, that the Japanese have the most beautiful women in the world. But the main point is that I thought being Chinese sucked. The language sucked (cause I suck at it). The culture sucked. The history sucked. The women sucked (seems that all the pretty ones are either Jap or Caucasian). The music sucked (because I can't understand it half the time). The movies sucked (because they never seem to have English subtitles). The movie plots sucked. Only the food is good.

All those changed with two people: Jay Zhou and Gao Yuan Yuan. Jay Zhou proved that Chinese music can be good, and because he isn't supposed to be understood easily, that made it better for me. Gao Yuan Yuan and Alyssa Chia appeared in a Mainland Chinese production called Heavenly Sword Dragon Sabre '03, based on one of the many novels written by acclaimed author Jin Yong. Its really amazing how I happen to get caught up by it. It was just a casual glance to kill some time on a lazy Sunday evening. Somehow or rather, it became a routine, and finally, when I realized that it was a good show, I purchased the DVDs for it. I never regretted it. I was glued to the TV screen, dying for each episode and having to tear my eyeballs away by force to go to bed. When it all ended there was a tinge of sadness.

But the point is, Gao Yuan Yuan and Alyssa Chia were two really beautiful women. Alyssa Chia is a great actor. She is so lively, and her bubbly nature and expressive facial features aid her in representing the outgoing, cheeky girl in it. Her bright, round as dishes eyes add to the effect, and I've got to say that she's a joy to look at.

Gao Yuan Yuan, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. As I think about it, I would say that Gao Yuan Yuan + Alyssa Chia = everything a guy loves about a girl. But enough of Alyssa Chia, this is supposed to be on Gao Yuan Yuan. She acts the gentle, sweet, demure one. The one with such good nature that she is usually at an advantage when dealing with cunning, devious adversaries.

Later on, craving for more of her, I picked up another serial with both of them as well, in almost the same capacity, fighting over the same guy, and in fundamentally similiar roles, called Miracle Healers. Gao Yuan Yuan again exhibited her excellent acting flair. Its like, when she smiles, the sweetness hits you immediately, and there is no hint of malice, or hidden meaning in that smile. It is a clean, innocent and complete fresh, open smile. When she is sad, and this is something that you get to see alot in HSDS, her eyes and eyebrows droop. Her mouth curls into a slight pout, and as she contracts her jaws, you see an elegant jawline, and eyes that look so upset that all you wanna to is to try your darnest best to put a smile on her face by any means necessary. When she gets mad, her jawline remains, while her eyes glare at you with such defiance that there is no way in which you can even think about absolving yourself of any fault or blame, should you find yourself to be the target of her ire. Her inherently fragile, gentle and needing-to-be-protected appearance brings out the cavemen instinct in all of us men, who just want to extend a protective arm around her and to ward of any hint of danger that would cause the slightest injury to her, be it physical or emotional.

There is only so much gushing that can be done. I had originally wanted to display pictures of her in both the serials I watched, but I decided... nah. This will be all I'll write.
