today's thought: so i bet on turkey to be in the finals. just for fun!.

<< reminisce envision >>

It's been a long long time since I've last blogged. Quite significantly long too.

Welcome to working life, where everyone struggles to get out of the rat race, and I'm a new entrant!

Enough of that. I'm gonna just log down a few opinions that I've had recently. I realize that in order to get ahead financially, working hard is as important as working smart. I cannot deny the fact that with the limited time all of us have, working smart is crucial, but working hard towards something is just as important. Most of the time, the profit comes from doing routine, mechanical tasks over and over again. It's boring, and it's hard to be interested in tedious chores, but that's where the reward is at too. Most of the time.

Probably that's why so many people dabble in the stock market. It's somewhere where there are low barriers to entry, and the potential for good returns. Also, it requires alot less effort and committment to get involved, as compared to, perhaps, a business.

Another thing I realized that emotions can be both a driving and a destructive force. Being passionate about something drives you towards a certain goal, but it can also hinder you from making rational, emotion-free decisions. Being too realistic and rational, on the otherhand, could help you make practical decisions, but leave you unmotivated and failing to see the abstract effects of that decision.

Not making sense here. Like what they say, the more you know, the more you realize you do not know. The more I learn, the more I find out that I have to learn. Knowledge is elusive like that.

Something else that irks me is environmentalism. If you notice, there is a spat of advertising related to recycling. Now, recycling is something I can deal with. After all, Singapore imports just about anything that needs to be manufactured, and being able to recycle reduces those costs. What I cannot deal with is attempts by the Western countries to limit CO2 emissions.

It's like they went ahead and overloaded the environment with CO2 from their industrialization, then try to impose limits on the third world to prevent them from ever catching up. They harp on about being socially responsible for the future generation, but really, what about the mistakes of the past generation? I don't really see them paying for the emissions and pollutions that their forefathers contributed.

Granted, they didn't know any better. But then again, smoking was fashionable when people didn't know any better, and they still paid for it. Ignorance isn't always going to be the best excuse.

They always say money is hard earned. Now I'm starting to learn that lesson. Hopefully it wouldn't be too late.

We are going to Bangkok soon, for a short trip and a much needed chance to just not have anything on my mind. Nowadays I'm almost always laden with something serious, and it's a good time now as any to take a load off.

Ya know, just that day, I was thinking back at the immature, insecure and whiny brat that I used to be way back. If only I had known better then, I would have applied myself better. And I was never good with the girls, probably because I was this nerd who was obsessed with games and trying to play the nice guy but ended up wrapped around their little fingers. So sometimes when I'm out with my precious baobei, I chuckle at how lucky I am to have her. I know every other guy out there wishes that they had a girlfriend like mine, and wow, is it a blessed reversal or what. Imagine the nerdy geeky guy getting the hot chick. Woohoo!

So drool all you want, but she's taken. All mine!
