I wanted to blog some funny, mean and sarcastic, but I figured that I'll try, for once, to reach new heights in my maturity level and forgo the tempting prospect of having a good laugh.

I'll still be very tempted to deliver to those who absolutely deserve it a tight 180 horizontal wake-up-your-bloody-idea-about-life-and-being-a-decent-human-being across cheek-to-cheek, positioned to deliver maximum impact from minimal drawback.

Anyhow, the weekend was Valentine's Day, the last in a chain of festivities starting from Christmas. After this looms the long year, dotted by the occasional birthday and the like.

Vday was spent decidedly simple. We had dinner at Carousel (Royal Plaza at Scotts Hotel), where the food was absolutely delectable, despite being Halal. Oops. I mean, they managed to procure wondrous delicacies without resorting to lard. The seafood was nothing to cry about, in fact, it tasted alot like the leftovers from yesterday. The selection wasn't extensive, desserts were minimal (not that it mattered to me), but oohh, the meats and soups rocked! I still dream of the wagyu beef and the mashed potato with roast duck.

Ever had beef brisket that melted in your mouth? That's how perfectly prepared the wagyu beef was. The sauce and spices blended together to create a fiesta of savoury, beefy tonguebud treats.

And the duck. Who would have thought to place a slab of evenly mashed potato on top of soft duck meat squashed into a cup, then splashing a generous dose of duck gravy on the top to create 'duck pudding' of sorts. Part meat, part carb, whole tear-inducing goodness.

After that was just home to rest. I guess we've all had a tired week; for her, it was taking on an additional 2 classes of tuition (which I was and still am kinda vehemently against, but not like I have other plans for her time), and for me it was a deluge of eBay activity (saw me broke like three personal records this month, all good ones, which means that its picking up even more), that got both of us down.

Also got her something special for Vday; another idea bites the dust and I have one less to use in my repotoire. More markedly, I did not get her flowers; that in itself is special, because in order to do so, I had to survive incessant whining and groundless speculation about why there are no flowers this year.

At the end of the day, I can safely say she was happy with what I got for her.

Sunday was a trip to the Science Centre. As a kid, the Science Centre was my favourite place to go to, for two reasons; it was one of the places where I really learnt stuff, and the other reason was the 'egg'!

The downside about going back there now is that the place is infested with kids, which is good when you are a kid, but not good when you are no longer one. Alot of kids treat that place as a big playground; playing with the exhibits without really bothering about what they are for. Well, I think I at least made the effort to read the notes to know what was going on then.

Or perhaps not.

The other main attraction is Omnimax, or now called IMax. I have had fond memories of putting on 3D glasses to look at a 3D movie. It was egg-shaped; like being inside an egg, and so many years later, its still the same. Same opening, same introduction (I love how they illuminate the back to show you the what is actually behind the porous screen). It was a fairly interesting documentary about the ocean and various marine life, but we cut it short so that the babe can sit in the simulator ride.

We headed home happy with the weekend's offering and ready for another week.

Life is hard and harsh at times. It can difficult to live from one day to the next; but ultimately, as long as you know what you are working for and as long as you are making steps to get there, that's all that matters.
